Potty Time

So I have officially started trying to potty train Sawyer. We started last Saturday. Bought him some cute new big boy Elmo underpants which are sooo dang cute on his little bum. We tried taking him to the potty every hour Saturday and he didn't go potty in the toilet once. We'd sit him on there for quite a while but within 5 minutes of being off he'd wet himself. I didn't expect him to be trained in a day but I was hoping to get him to do it once. No luck. Sunday was more difficult since we had church and then a family party. We weren't able to take him to the potty as often as we should have. Then during the week its hard for me since I take care of my grandma. She requires a lot of time so I have a hard time being consistent in taking him to the potty. Today I had some success. He was pushing so I ran him into the bathroom. The first time he just sat there and wouldn't do anything. I wiped him, flushed and washed his hands and gave him a potty treat. Few minutes later he was back to pushing. I grabbed him again and ran into the bathroom. Course when we got in there he stopped pushing. I tried to talk to him and tell him it was ok to push and sure enough he started to push! While he was pushing he went pee too! So he went poo-poo and pee-pee in the potty this morning!! I made a HUGE deal out of it and gave him an extra special potty treat, a chocolate candy bar! I don't give him chocolate cause it irritates his reflux sometimes so he was so happy for the candy bar! Now I am having him drink some drink and will be talking him in to the potty to try to get him to go pee-pee on his own again. Potty training is tough! But we'll get there! Hopefully by December! That's my goal at least. Cross your fingers! Also, if anyone has any advice please leave it for me! I'd appreciate it!

PEOPLE ARE AWESOME. Period

Nuchal Translucency Study

I went and had another ultrasound done yesterday! Got to see my little bugs movin like crazy! I went in so I could get the Nuchal Translucency Study done. What this is is a new way to detect downs syndrome, T-18, and other birth defects and it is a safer way than Amniocentesis. What amniocentesis is is a procedure where they basically stick a needle through your bellybutton remove some of the amniotic fluid and do test to check for downs and other defects. This new way of doing it is more accurate and is less harmful to the mother and the babies. Amniocentesis can actually cause a woman to go into labor and lose her baby. So for me now that I am having 2 instead of just one I took the opportunity to get the test done and make sure there were no problems with our bundles. Wonderfully enough they are doing great! No signs of any defects or problems. Hearts, brains, and bodies look completely normal and healthy! I even got to see one of them doing flips! Literally doing flips! So crazy and wonderful at the same time! Even from one week ago you can see a huge difference in their size! They are already bigger! It amazes me!

We're Having How Many???

So here is our lovely story of how we found out about our little BUNS in my oven!

When I found out I was pregnant it was September 10th, the day after Sawyer's 2nd Birthday. I went to the doctor who delivered Sawyer when I was about 7 weeks along. He didn't do an ultrasound or anything. Basically just did a normal pap exam and told me "Yup, you're pregnant." Wa-friggin-who. I talked to a bunch of my friends and quite a few of them told me about this one place in Ogden that does an ultrasound every time you go. I loved the sound of that! So I went to the new OB on the 18th. Got to the new OB (a woman which I have never been to a woman before ever) and she talked to me asked questions like if I wanted to do another c-section or try vbac I said I wanted to try a VBAC. She said ok. She told me to lay on the table and we'd do an ultrasound. I hoped up lifted my shirt up and she put the cold jelly stuff on my belly. Within only about 2 seconds of having the thinger on my tummy she said "so how do you feel about twins?" I was completely shocked. She said "I never joke about twins". I of course said "Are you kidding me?" She again repeated that she never jokes about twins. I started to cry. Brandon started laughing! I was so terrified at that moment. I couldn't even believe it. She said with twins I'd have to be monitored a lot more often and there was NO doing a VBAC. So much for wanting to experience labor. She moved the device around my tummy and showed us our babies. One was sleeping and the other was moving all over the place. Both measured 10 weeks so we are on schedule. The great thing about this new place is they do an ultrasound every time and record it so you can watch as the babies progress. I love that. So we left there feeling very shocked and overwhelmed. I immediately called Nikki and told her the news. She was as speechless as I was. She said she has been joking with Derik about it just the night before. They cursed me! lol We had to go pick up Brandon's car at Max and Kelly's so we headed that way. I was freaking out in the car. I texted my mom and told her to go over to Kelly's house. When I walked in they could tell I had been crying so of course they assumed the worst. I had to wait for Brandon to get inside before I could tell them the news. When I told them I started to cry again and they cried tears of joy! We sat around talking for a while about what we need to do and get then Brandon and I decided it was time to go home. ON the way home I started calling tons of people! lol I know I am not suppose to tell anyone until I am 12 weeks but this is HUGE news! HUGE!

When we got home I sat next to Brandon with my head on his chest and asked him how he was not freaking out. He said "What would that accomplish?" I said I don't know but I am doing it. And he returned with "And is it doing any good?" No but it was making me feel better. I told him he couldn't freak out in front of me or I'd lose it. I need him to be the stronger person for this. I can't be. Not able to. Later that night Dan and Tia came over so I could show Tia the babies video! I look at the ultrasound video just about everyday. It still seems surreal. I think its my dad's last little trick!! :) Now that things have had a little time to sink in, I am getting very excited! I know how huge this is and how challenging it will be, but I have two mom's who will be there to help if I need it, a brother, and friends. Things will work out. I do wish my dad was here to share in the joy though. He would have been absolutely ecstatic at the news! Makes me miss him so much.
So that is how we found out our great news! Now we have the challenge of getting Sawyer potty trained hopefully by no later than December and getting him in his new room by then as well. I am so excited for his new room! Its going to be decorated in motorcycles!! He'll love it!

Delicious Soup

I made an absolutely delicious soup last night! I got it from The Girl Who Ate Everything Blog. It was to die for!! Here is the recipe
Creamy Ham and Potato Soup
3 1/2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
1/3 cup diced celery
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup carrot, diced (optional but I put them in)
1 cup diced cooked ham (buy a ham steak in the deli section)
3 1/4 chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon ground white or black pepper, (I used white pepper. Gives it a little kick)

5 tablespoons butter
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk

Directions:
1.Combine the potatoes, celery, onion, carrot, ham and chicken broth in a stockpot. Bring to a boil, then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the salt and pepper.

2.In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour with a fork, and cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk so that lumps don't form and until all of the milk has been added. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick, 4 to 5 minutes.

3.Stir the milk mixture into the stockpot, and cook soup until heated through.

4. Top with cheddar cheese, chives, and bacon if desired. Serve immediately.

5. Makes 6 servings

Blessings In Disguise

You know how sometimes things happen and you just can't do anything about it? You try praying and it still happens but not as bad as it could have been? Well that's what happened to us this week. We thought we were going to get hit with a $2000+ repair on Brandon's car. That's a hefty chunk of change when you aren't expecting it. Brandon's car has been sounding/driving funny for a few weeks now so he took it in cause he thought it was a wheel bearing. They 'fixed' that problem which was $250 but the car still sounded the same. They told him it was probably the transmission going out. Our car was bought brand new off the lot. Had like 11 miles on. Is only 4 years old and is a Toyota. We never would have thought we'd have a major problem like that for quite a few years. So when we got that news we both started freaking out. Transmissions are usually around $2000+. Who has that kind of money to just fork out? I mean really?
Brandon ended up taking the car to a dealer and they said the transmission needed to be flushed and the people that fixed the wheel bearing fixed the wrong one. Who does that?! So we forked out $250 kinda for nothing. Bah. Anyway, so they repaired it today and when Brandon picked it up I called him to see if it still sounded like the back seat of an air plane and he said no! It sounded normal! Thank heaves! The dealer did charge us $650 but that is tons more digestible than $2000+!! So even though we still had to fork out more than what we would have liked I consider it a blessing. It could have been faaaaarrr worse!

26 Candles

I had a wonderful birthday! I wasn't expecting it to be anything other than another day but as usual my hubby made it a special day!
It kinda started Saturday for me. I got to go get my toe nails Glitterfied by my friend and they were super cute and Halloweeny. Orange and Black glitter! Love em! Then Tia and I did a little costume shopping and ate at Cafe Rio. Yummy!
Later that night Brandon and I headed to North Ogden for a Murder Mystery with our friends Bryant and Liz. I was a goth, Brandon was a Roman, and Bryant and Liz were the best zombies I swear I have ever seen! They were pretty creepy looking. It was awesome! The show was fun to watch but the food sucked unfrotunately. Brandon did win and guess who the murderer was. Yay him! It was a fun night.

Sunday my mom had a dinner for me at her place. It was wonderful. My brother also made me a special pretty cake too!

Mmm such a tasty cake!

Monday morning, I started out my morning reading the two cards I got. One from Brandon and one from Sawyer! They were both so sweet I cried! That happens a lot with me. I'm a crier. After reading the cards I headed to take care of my gma as usual. The day went pretty well and Brandon told me he was going to get off work early to try to spend time with me. I was pretty excited about that. I was driving home from my mom's and he called me and told me to be ready to leave when he got home. My first thought was "really? But its my nap time!" Then I decided my nap could wait. When he walked through the door he was carrying a HUUUUGE boquet of flowers! They were GORGEOUS!
And he bought me Season 3 of Big Bang Theory!! So dang thrilled!!

We headed to see "You Again" which was a cute show. We went and picked up the baby and headed to Cherry Hill. We rode the train and Sawyer loved it!

Me on the other hand, didn't. Those little cars are not made for people with loooong legs. Brandon had to help me get out cause my legs were in so snug I couldn't get out by myself. Hmph. After the train, we did some miniture golfing! Sawyer even got his own little putter and golf ball that he kept right up until about the 16th hole. Then he lost it! Not bad for a 2 year old! It was such a great day! I love my hubby and my baby so much! They make my life complete!

funny kitty

this is a little cat that you can play with on brandons phone. you can pet it and it purs, step on its toes, give it milk, hit it until it falls over, and talk to it and it repeats everything you say in a high pitched voice. Sawyer absolutely loves playing with it. He thinks its hysterical!

Not Much Happening

Its been a while since I updated. Not a ton has been happening. I've been sick off and on lately and it seems to have taken its toll. One day I will feel ok and functional, the next I can't get out of bed. I hate being sick. I mean despise it. I can take pain but sickness I am a wuss. I just don't like feeling crappy is what it boils down to. I keep praying for some relief but it only comes in spurts so far. Sigh.
Lately, we have been fishing a lot (Brandon more than me. I just like to go sit and watch). My niece got married last Saturday and it made me want to cry. She was so absolutely beautiful. I still see her as 2 years old with a big pink dress, big froofy bangs, and a smile that could melt the antarctic! And now she is almost 20 and married. Where the heck does time go? It kill ME sometimes. Thank the Lord my husband is so great and makes it possible for me to stay home with Sawyer. Makes me sick to think of how much I might have missed....... Nikki came down for Torrey's wedding and that was nice spending time with her. We were able to get all of us kids (minus our step sisters) together for a swim party at Charise's apartment. It was awesome! So nice to get together. I just gotta make sure it keeps going since that seems to have become my job. Least that's how I feel at times.
Tonight, my nephew and his band are playing and we are going to go watch him! I am super excited! He is just the neatest kid ever! I'll post pics/vids tomorrow. That's my update for now. Nothing huge or exciting. Just us!
