Christmas Weekend.

We did so much stuff this weekend. Christmas Eve we went to Grandma and Grandpa Maxfield and hung out there for a while and had delicious ham! Love grandpa's ham! After some time there we went to my mom's and played games and laughed until we cried..... several times! We slept at our house {1st time ever on a Xmas Eve} and had my mom & Steven and Kelly & Max over to watch Sawyer open his presents. He wasn't really as thrilled about opening gifts as I was hoping but he did enjoy his toys once he got them open and set up! We headed to my mom's for some brunch {delicious} and opening of gifts. Sawyer got more into the gift opening once he found out that Elmo was in one of them! Thanks Aunt Nikki! After we opened out gifts, Nikki and I {plus Derik's friend} started to make our wreaths for our dad's grave. I had never made a wreath myself but it turned out decent if I do say so myself.

Not bad.

After that was done, we headed to Max & Kelly's for the Schramm party. We ate more yummy food and watched all the kids open their gifts! Its a riot to watch the kids go nuts! They are such a hoot to watch! Once 5:30 rolled around it was time to head up to the cemetery with all my siblings and go put the wreaths on my dad's grave and sing Christmas Carols. I wasn't sure how I was going to hold up doing this but I didn't cry. I even felt quite joyful! We mostly sung upbeat Christmas songs but ended up singing Silent Night which a few of us had a hard time with. I was just thankful that we didn't sing "I'll be home for Christmas" I never would have made it through that one. We sung for about a half hour than went to my step-sister Heidi's house and had MORE food and played games. I love Christmas cause you get to see EVERYONE! It was pretty busy but we had a wonderful Christmas.

Another Dr. Visit

I took Sawyer into his doctor to see if his ear infections had cleared up. Nope. He has so many ear infections its nuts. They weighed him and he is now 21lbs 2 oz. Not huge by any means but he's growin! They gave him some shots to see if that would clear up his ears. If not, he is getting tubes. Poor kid. Oh and I got thrown up on! Oh the joys of motherhood! lol

Sunday @ Dad's Grave

Sunday afternoon, Derik, LK, Brandon, Sawyer, and I went to my dad's grave to put a wreath on it. We found so many flowers that had been covered by snow so we uncovered them and made them look all nice. Christmas day my family is going to head up there and decorate it all cute and sing some Christmas Carols. I think it will be nice and he'd love it I am sure!

Temple Square

Brandon, Sawyer, my mom, Steven, gma, Kelly, Max, and I went out for dinner at Applebees at the Gateway than took trax to Temple Square and walked around looking at all the beautiful lights! We had such a good time and it helped me feel some joy of Christmas. Sawyer hadn't had a nap in the afternoon like he should have but was really pretty good. Once we got him in the car to go home, we was out in 2 point 2! Poor sleepy babe!

Time To Get Busy

My sis left town today until next Wednesday, so I plan on going home and getting lots of house work done. With everything that has been going on with my dad, my poor house has been sorely neglected. I also plan on making dinner tonight! Its been probably 2 whole weeks since I have made an actual dinner! My poor husband and son! I am hoping things will go back to 'normal' and yet I know nothing will ever be 'normal' again. Seems crazy to think that and kinda scary......

My Brilliant Hubby & Playing in the Snow!

I promise this is not a depressing post. I am going to try to be more light hearted when I blog.

On Friday the 11th of December, my darling brilliant husband graduated with his Bachelors Degree! I am so proud of him! He has worked so dang hard. He is so glad to be done for a little while! So are Sawyer and I!! It'll be nice to have him around again!
What an amazing husband I have!! We took him out for lunch/dinner at his favy restaurant Tepanyaki's and it was amazing! After that we had to head to my dad's funeral. I feel bad we weren't able to celebrate more for him. We are going to try to go to Hawaii as his graduation present though!!! Woot woot!

Yesterday, Nikki and I decided we needed to take Sawyer outside to play in the snow. It was snowing HUGE snowflakes. It was gorgeous! We started out just playing the back then moved to the side hill and began to sled!

Sawyer started to get tired so he kept saying "All done, all done?" My mom took him in and put him to bed while Nikki, Derik, and I stayed out and played in the snow as if were kids again! It was a blast!!

It was nice to actually have a fun day after so many days of heart ache.

Truly The Worst Day of My Life

Today was Hell. It was by far the worst day of my entire life thus far.
The morning started out ok. Woke up, had a rough time finding the 'right' outfit to wear to my dad's funeral, but got ready, had Sawyer picked up by Grandma Kelly {she was to bring him after the viewing in time for the funeral} and we made it to the viewing pretty much on time. This viewing was much harder for some reason. I ended up crying with just about everyone I saw. I kept looking at dad's casket, but decided I would wait to say my final goodbye until the closing of the casket. I did not get that chance. About a half hour before that, I got HORRIBLE news that caused me quite literally pass out. I was talking to a friend when Brandon came up and pulled me aside and told me that an ambulance was taking Sawyer to the emergency room because he couldn't breath. My heart stopped for a probably a good 30 seconds or so. I felt as though everything and everyone around me froze and the air had been sucked right from my lungs and my blood had turned as cold as ice. I began to gasp for air but I could not get any to my lungs. I became so hysterical and breathing so rapidly I felt my lips, hands, legs, and chest begin to tingle and then..... I woke up on the ground surrounded by 20-30 people. I didn't know what had happened but I knew it was something bad. My brother and Brandon had to carry me out to the car and put me in the seat. While we were driving to the hospital, I kept praying that my dad and Heavenly Father would show mercy on me and not take my baby. I wouldn't be able to take my baby being taken from me......
While we were driving we ran into stopped traffic {of course. I HAVE to be at the hospital asap and there is a traffic jam. Go figure.}. Brandon took the emergency lane and there were a few cars that tried to stop us but Brandon was able to get us out of the jam and back on our way quickly {I was so grateful for that.} The entire time in the car I was going hysterical. I couldn't breath and just about passed out again. I scared the crap out of Brandon. He was trying to concentrate on the traffic but also try to keep me awake and breathing. We made it to the hospital {me still conscious} and Brandon pretty much had to carry me into the emergency room. I was still so dizzy from lack of oxygen I could barely walk. Once I found my baby {in the arms of Kelly with Max and my mom around comforting him} I once again began to sob and gasp for air. All I wanted to do was hold my son and make him better. They made me sit down because I was losing it and then everything went black..... again. I woke up a few minutes later with the nurse saying "I am not sure who to treat... the mom.... or the baby!"
I looked right at Sawyer and tried to stand up to get him but was too weak to stand so Brandon got him and brought him to me. I sobbed. Thinking that you are going to lose your baby is soooo...... devastating. No words can truly describe how horrified I was and so grateful that he was in my arms and doing ok. The doctor checked him over, took blood, and took him for a chest xray. While they had him in the xray, I began to sob yet again. I was not there to say my goodbye at the closing of my father's casket. I was not there for his funeral. I was not there for the dedication of his grave. I knew I was where I was suppose to be..... but that did not console the aching in my heart for not being there to say goodbye.
When the doctor came to talk to us after the xray, he said that everything looked normal and they really couldn't say what had caused Sawyer to have such labored breathing. By this time, he was acting normal {thankfully} but his breathing trouble is still a mystery.
Kelly and Max took Sawyer home while Brandon and I flew to the grave site. When we finally found his grave, my heart sank. They had already placed my daddy in the grave and were ready to seal him in without me saying goodbye.
There were so many things I wanted to say. So many things I should have said. I stood next to his grave as close and I could but all I could do was look in and tell him from a far "Goodbye Daddy. I love you."
I missed everything............
I do not regret going to the emergency with my baby. But I am aching that I missed saying goodbye.
Brandon and I slowly drove to the church where my family was meeting up to eat. I tried to get out all my sobs before I went in but as soon as I looked around at all the people who were able to make it and be there to see his funeral, I lost it. Again. My family tried to calm me down and console me, but I don't think anything but time can heal this gaping wound.
Today was Hell. I pray that my dad knows that I wanted to be there with him and that I love and miss him. I am so grateful for the knowledge of the plan of salvation. I don't think I would make it through if I didn't know, deep in my heart that it was true. I pray for forgiveness for all the times I offended my dad or hurt him. I pray that he will be there to greet me when it is my time to return home. I am so grateful for my friends and family, for all their support and love through this awful time.
Although I wasn't able to say goodbye to my daddy before they closed his casket, my brother and sister made sure that my letter and picture to him were placed him his casket so he could have it with him. That brings some comfort.
Daddy, I love you. I will miss you everyday until we see each other again.

Daddy Has Returned Home

My beloved father has now returned home to his Heavenly Father. He passed away Tuesday December 8th, 2009 at 8:10 pm surrounded by his kids and wife. I am so grateful that he is no longer in pain but feel as though there is a huge gaping whole in my heart. I do not yet have the strength to write about the day of his passing. I just wanted people to know. If you are interested in attending his viewing it will be held at Lindquists Mortuary on 34th and Washington in Ogden Friday the 11th from 6-8 pm. His funeral will be held at the same place on Saturday at 11 am.

What a Weekend

Had a pretty eventful weekend. Friday, headed down to Orem to see Forgotten Carols with our friends Jake & Melissa. We ate dinner at their place then headed to the FC and it was wonderful! I absolutely LOVE the Forgotten Carols! I have the CD and have been listening to it while I clean my house. What a wonderful story! It was awesome to see Jake & Melissa too. Its been too long!
Saturday, we had our nephew's baptism and I did a little Christmas decor shopping with Tia then had to get ready for Brandon's company party. Danielle and Zack watched Sawyer for us and I think he LOVES it when they babysit. They don't make him go to bed! lol They spoil him rotten! At the party, Brandon won a $300 GPS! Pretty sweet! I won our table decoration which was a stag candle holder {kinda interesting} but nonetheless it was a prize! It was really nice to get out and get my mind of my struggles and just be with Brandon.
Today, I did a bunch of cleaning and tried my hardest to put up my Christmas decorations. I was able to do a little but still am not finished. Here is a little glimpse of my decor. Keep in mind I am NO interior decorator. I just TRY to make things look ..decent at least.....

Its a start. Its a little bit brighter and happier!

Went and visited my dad again today. Its getting more and more difficult to see him. Watching him get worse and worse in such a slow agonizing way is heart breaking. Today he was asleep then just suddenly opened his eyes, looked at his hand, and waved at the ceiling and raised his eye brows. It was as if he saw someone he knew.... I think the veil is getting very thin. I hope he sees his family who have passed before him. Give him some comfort......!I had to post some pics of the beautiful flowers Brandon got me last week. I love them! Also, I had to post at least one pic of my cuttie pitootie boy of mine! That's one of his new outfits from Old Navy! He looks so darn cute in it!

He was a big helper with decorating the tree too! He thought my ornaments were balls so when I would put them on he'd take them off and throw them! hahaha Kids are so dang funny!

Still Hard Times/My Sweet Husband

My dad is slipping more and more everyday. He is now in a hospice bed too weak to get up and down. Not even to go to the restroom. Ever since we found out that the cancer has moved to his brain, I have been up to see him every single day. I am glad that I have been able to go up and spend time with him like I have. I have been able to give him head massages, tickle his face, and just hold his hand and hope that he can feel my love for him. It has been rough just standing by and watching him deteriorate every day though. He has only had 2 bites of food and maybe 4 sips of water the past two days. He is refusing to take his oral medication as well. He acts like he is in horrific pain but he won't take anything to help. Its heart breaking to watch him suffering like he is. At times when he looks at me, he seems to be looking past me or through me. I am not sure if he even knows who I am at times... but every now and then he will do something funny and I get a glimpse of his old self! I am grateful for those little glimpses.

I am so blessed to have such a great husband. These last few weeks have SO trying for me. As I have mentioned before I have not been good at doing anything. I have not been cooking, cleaning, I have been moody, weepy, and just depressed. Brandon has been so wonderful though. He bought me a very large GORGEOUS winter bouquet of flowers! Pictures to come. Last night, he gave me the David Archuleta Christmas Album!I have been listening to it all morning. I needed something good to listen to. I have not been in any kind of Christmas mood but hopefully this lovely cd will help! I love my husband and am so grateful to be sealed to him for all eternity! He is an amazing man!

'Bout Time

Sawyer is finally gaining weight so we have been able to move him from his new born car seat to a forward facing 'big boy' car seat! I think he likes the forward facing one a lot better. So much more to see! When he falls asleep in it, he doesn't look very comfortable though. My boy is getting so big!
