Few Cute Things

I have been thinking about starting to potty train Sawyer. Thinking being the key word! Brandon found an adorable Elmo potty on Amazon so we bought it! He LOVES it! Elmo even talks! It says stuff like:

** Its potty time with Elmo!**

** Congratulations**

** Elmo's so proud of you!**

Its just so dang cute! I am trying to get him use to just sitting on it before we start the potty training process. If anyone has some potty training advice I would love to hear!

Yesterday, I made a little fort/tent out of blankets and our kitchen chairs and he loves it! I got in there with him then when daddy got home he wanted daddy in there too. Once all three of us were in there he decided he needed Taya dog in there too! It was hilarious! He's been playing in it today too!

He is just so stinking fun! Love this little baby boy!

Sawyer Loves The Kitty Kitty

This was so stinking cute! Kelly and Max bought this cute little kitty that moves and plays music and Sawyer got a kick out of it! Listen to him laugh! Adorable!

Found This Pic....

Found this pic of my mom and I at Christmas and I love it! Its goofy but then again so are we!

My tongue matches my shirt!! I color coordinated that! ;0)

Party Pics

The party was a success! We had a great time. Lots of yummy food, good conversation, and played some fun games! I don't know why I was so worried. My family is great! Here is a few pics... We had a good time and I am pretty sure our dad was watching us and smiling!

Here are some pics of my Easter decor I put up {yes its early but I love Easter} and some other little improvements we did this weekend....

My bare basement walls before

This is after. Not much, just candle sconces but it helped.

My kitchen door without a border around it

Now with a border! Looks so much nicer! Really enhanced the door! My poor honey had so many little honey dos this weekend! He did a great job!

Getting Ready For The Party

I spent some of last night and most of this morning getting my house ready for the party tonight. I broke a glass last night so spent like an hour on my kitchen floor trying to make sure I got every tiny piece of glass up and made sure it was all mopped and looked good. Today, I gave Sawyer a Poptart and he ended up throwing it on the floor and stepping on it and mushing it into the tile. Sigh. I am starting to notice that nothing stays clean for very long when you have a little one!
I have done a bunch of little things to the house these past two days. My bay window looks very festive. Yes, I already put up my Easter stuff! I love Easter almost as much as Halloween and Christmas! Besides its bring and cheery and I am ready for spring! Also, Brandon hung up some sconces in my basement since my poor basement is completely bare. I am trying to fix that slowly! Finally, Brandon is working on getting a border up around our new deck door. We got the door back in September but haven't gotten around to putting up the border until today. I am very excited! I will post pics tomorrow when I get some time.
I am still pretty nervous to have all my family here tonight but am also very excited. I have a feeling my dad will be watching us and smiling!

The past two weeks have been quite interesting. Last week with Sawyer's doctor appointments and this week all of us have been sick. When one gets sick, everyone does! We are all starting to get over our nasty colds though which is great. Still a little congested but overall better.
I called Sawyer's GI specialists again on Wed. and told her we needed to try something different since the medication she put him on was not helping. She recommended an over the counter drug called Pepsid Complete. We have been giving him it for two nights and he has slept through the night without any reflux or vomiting! I woke up and had to go check on him to make sure he was still breathing! Its crazy how one full night of actual sleep makes you worry that your baby is not breathing. Along with giving him the Pepsid, we have stopped giving him any food past 7:30 pm. Not even a baba. Its been kind difficult cause he is very use to a baba at night and he doesn't eat much during the day so he seems to get very hungry at night. Its seemed to be helping him sleep though. Now if we can just get him to start eating more....
Saturday I am hostessing our Lee family party and am a nervous wreck! I never feel like my house is 'good enough' for my family. All my families houses are so well decorated and quite a bit larger than mine. Yes I know they are older and have had to work to get these nice things, it just makes me feel a little intimidated. So I have been buying a few things to help spruce up my little home. I know it really shouldn't matter. I just want people to like my house. Is that so wrong? I am glad we are getting together. Its what my dad always wanted, to keep us all close and I want to carry on his wishes. Even if I have to hostess every single family get together!
Onto a different subject: Brandon started one of those in house garden-starter kit things and already we have plants growing! He planted them only about a week and a half ago and they are taking off like crazy! We are thinking we are going to have to move some of the beans out into a bigger pot cause they are just cruizin! Makes me so excited for spring! I am also going to grow some of my own herbs I have decided! Gardening is kind of a pain to start but reaping what you have sown is so wonderful!
Just looked outside and its snowing. What the crap?! Where is the sun? I am ready for spring to come.

Need A Laugh....

Women are angels!
If someone breaks our wings,
We are flexible.
We simply continue to fly,
On our Broomsticks!
You know this is hilarious! ;0)

Happy Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day has not started like I was planning. I wanted to wake up and make a yummy heart breakfast and give Brandon his present in a cute way but was up all night with a sick baby. We had cereal for breakfast. I was going to make a yummy dinner but decided homemade chicken noodle would be best for Sawyer. We are all so tired we don't really feel like celebrating much. Might have to celebrate another day.
I do have to say I love LOVE! I love Brandon and Sawyer with all my heart, mind, and soul. I could never see myself with another man. He is a wonderful person, husband, and daddy. Sawyer is so energetic {when he isn't sick}, funny, full of life and love! I am so grateful to have these two Valentines in my life!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Friday Happenings

Friday was an interesting day to say the least! We went to my mother-in-law's dad's funeral and ended up leaving early. I am now thinking Sawyer does not like funerals. We were listening to the talks and Sawyer had been coughing a lot all morning. Well, he started coughing really bad, hard enough that he threw up.... in Brandon's hands! Picture it if you will, sitting in the front few rows, surrounded by people land having your child puke in your husbands hands. It was pretty horrible. I grabbed some baby wipes and tried to clean Brandon up when Sawyer started coughing heavily again. I grabbed him and started to run out the door but was not quick enough. He puked ALL OVER. All over him and all over me. I was so mortified. A guy told me I could go into the nursery cause there was a bathroom in it so I ran in there and tried to clean the two of us up. Of course I was stupid and didn't bring him any extra clothes even though I had thought about it. Should have listened to my instincts. I'm an idiot... moving on. I fortunately had brought some extra clothes for me cause we were going out later so I wanted to change. I was able to take off the pukey shirt and put on another one but the puke was still all over. On my skirt, on my leggings, bra, and garments. Ugh. Brandon just wanted me to change and we could keep Sawyer bundled up but there was no way I was staying there cover in puke with my baby in a pukey onesie. So I took Sawyer and we headed to my moms. I washed our clothes and took a shower while Sawyer slept. I felt so horrible. I wanted to be there for my mother-in-law but there was nothing I could do. Sigh. The rest of the day was ok after that. He even ate semi decent which was wonderful. We got a call from his doctor and she said from the x-rays everything looked normal. Whew! That was wonderful to hear. I told her that he was still coughing a lot and puked and she told me to watch him for the next week and call her with how he does. When he woke up today he had a fever and a runny nose. Great! lol Poor kid.
My mom won tickets on the radio to see Monster Jam at the ESA so we invited our friends Liz and Bryant to go with us. We went out to eat at the Olive Garden. We went to the one in West Valley, not even close to as good as the one in Layton. Everything seemed dry.... The Black Tie Mousse Cake was still wonderful as ever though!! That's all that really mattered! :) We started talking about the Monster Truck Jam and thought it would be funny if we dressed up kinda Hick-ish! We went to Walmart and got some Camo hats, shirts, and the boys got wife-beaters! hahaha. They wore the wife-beaters over their shirts. They looked ridiculous! It was perfect! The Monster Jam was pretty dang cool. I had never been to one but I loved it. After it was over we waited in line and had the drivers sign our shirts! Bryant wrote on his wife-beater I heart Grave Digger and drew the truck! It was hilarious! I drew an 8 pack of abs and pecks with green nipples on Brandon's shirt! It was awesome! All the drivers thought it was pretty hilarious too! The woman driver got to sign Brandon's breasts! lol How often do women get to sign men's breasts I mean really?! It was awesome! We had a lot of fun. It was a good Valentine's Activity!

So we were trying to look like hicks right, well one of the drivers was a definite hick! He was missing teeth and everything! We thought about blacking out our teeth to go with our ensambles but sure glad we didn't now! lol Might have gotten into a rumble! HA
So for Valentine's Day, Brandon gave me my present early! We decided to not do any gifts this year {except I get to give him one cause I got it in January} so we could go on a trip instead but he got me a little something anyway. Sweet hubby!

He knows I love me some Diet Coke and roses! Such a sweetie!

The Upper GI

Had the Upper GI today. Things went pretty well. As well as can be expected for a 17 month old anyway! We got him there and when they took us back to the x-ray room he freaked! Of course. We stripped him down to his diaper and he clung to me like he was just layer of my skin! He was uncooperative when it came to laying still to take the x-rays so they ended up having to strap him to a board so he couldn't move his arms or legs. That was pretty dang traumatic for him. He screamed and struggled the whole time. He wouldn't drink the barium from his baba either so they had to use a giant syringe. Thankfully he began to drink with the syringe. If he wouldn't have he would have had to have the tube in his nose. Ek! That would have been more than I could take I am thinkin. I stood up by his head the entire time and tried to keep him calm and talk to him. I didn't succeed in keeping him calm but I tried! They took a bunch of x-rays as he drank and the doctor said that his esophagus looked pretty good as well as his stomach. Whew. I just hope the GI doctor can tell us what we can do to help him and hopefully its something fairly simple. After all the testing was finished, the nurse started to unwrap his legs. He started kicking his legs as soon as the straps were off. He couldn't wait until his arms were free either. He was trying to scramble into my arms with one arm still tied into the strap. Once we got him all unscrambled, I just held him. Oh how I long to just take all his pain and fears away from him. We got him all dressed and got him a bottle. When we got him in the car his little eyes were so heavy. He was out in about 10 minutes! He needs the sleep. He had a really rough morning poor thing. The doctor should call tomorrow so I will update when we get word from her!

Worrying

Today was Sawyer's appointment with the Pediatric Gastroenterologist and it went.... ok. I had a really good feeling about the doctor. She seemed very thorough and all around likable. This appointment was mostly to start the ball rolling. She got his symptoms and family history and did a small exam. With some of Brandon's family history, the doctor had a few thoughts on what was going to need to be done. Tomorrow, he will be getting an upper GI done at Primary Children's Hospital. Thankfully it will be in the morning since he will not be able to eat 4 hours prior to the procedure. I called Primary Children's to see what the procedure would consist of and they said he will have to drink Barium {ew} then they will take x-rays of him and watch how everything works when he swallows. I am praying they can find an answer to these problems and answers not leading to surgery! That would be wonderful! I know for certain that he is going to throw many a fits. He is not a fan of doctors. Who would be if you were at the doctors office every 2 weeks or so. Sigh.

The doctor also gave us a new prescription to try. We are trying it tonight so hopefully there will be no vomiting. Ahh... a day without vomiting. Its been a while since we've had one of those days. My poor baby is starting to loath eating. Just about every time he eats he vomits it all back up. I think he is starting to associating food with pain. {wish I could do that! Maybe I wouldn't eat so much! lol kidding} It has been so frustrating and scary to go through this with him. We are constantly worrying about his weight gain, the effects the vomiting has on his esophagus, teeth, stomach, and his refusal to eat. I can't even imagine what it is like for him. Poor guy. The doctor said that the day after the upper GI she will call me with results! How wonderful is that?! The day after!! Lets how that's what happens and they can find something relatively non-abrasive to help him. Wish him luck!

Wanting Spring

I am so wanting spring to come quicker. I took Sawyer and my dog to the park today and loved that the snow is melting! Sawyer had so much fun on the slides and he even took Taya on a walk! I guess you could say she walked him but still! It was nice. Makes me so excited for spring and summer! We have been planning a bunch of camping trips and this year will be so fun cause now Sawyer can do more! We go to Goblin Valley every year for Easter and do Easter egg hunts and he can go search for eggs this year! Woo-hoo! So much to look forward to!

Spring please come quick! We can't wait to see you again!

Snowboarding

A big group of my friends and I went snowboarding yesterday at Snow Basin. I haven't been snowboarding for about 6 years and I sucked when I went then. This time I did pretty well on the bunny hill for not having much experience so I went with the big boys on the harder stuff. That was a big mistake. First off, when I got to the ski lift I was with my husband and friend Jeff. I was so concentrated on getting ON the lift that I didn't pay much attention to my board and it got turned sideways and caught on the snow and off I went! Yeah, you heard me right. I fell OFF THE SKI LIFT! I would say it was embarrassing but I think I was in too much pain to think about how big of a fool I looked. I landed face first so I jarred my head, giving me a huge headache the rest of the day and with the board grabbing the snow it twisted my ankle. Sigh. Yeah I am a dork. They had to stop the lift so I could get back on. Brandon and Jeff were laughing at me but my head hurt too much to really care. Once we got to the top I got off the lift with ease {thank heavens don't know if I could have taken another embarrassing moment like that!}. We waited for everyone to get up there and started down. I was pretty confident when we started even though I can do toe side which annoys the heck out of me. We kept going, me at a really slow pace, and I was fine until I fell and felt my knee pop out of joint. I couldn't move so I yelled for Brandon to get my bindings off. Tears were just streaming down my face cause my knee hurt like a MOTHER! lol I felt like an idiot cause there were a few of our guy Friends watching me so I sucked it up and kept going. The rest of the way down was awful. I was so frustrated and I kept hurting my knee every time I fell. I was so thrilled by the time we got down! I was done too. I found my friend Heatherly and we got some hot chocolate and went home! We had both had enough beating up! I went to my moms to get the baby and iced my knee until Brandon go there.
When I woke up this morning.... Whew! all I can say is PAIN........ EVERYWHERE!! Not kidding. From my head to my toes! My knee isn't swollen or anything so that is good. No doctor visit for me. It still hurts like a mother though as does the rest of my body. Kinda makes me feel old!! I would like to say I will never do that again but I really want to. I want to be good. I had fun until we went up that huge hill. I need to learn the basics before I go up there again. I think next time I will take a lesson though. Learning by myself didn't seem to work so well! Today, my best friend is Ibuprofen!!!!!

This is me when I fell off the lift. Thankfully my actual fall didn't get recorded! :0)

Thinking About My Past

I have been thinking a lot about my high school days. I had a conversation with my 16 year old niece a few days ago and I have been thinking about my high school experience ever since. I hated high school. HATED it. The only good part of it was I was with Brandon but even that was very difficult at times.
I remember for my 16th Birthday my 'friends' threw me a 'surprise' birthday party. We ended up going to some kids house that I didn't even know and just hanging out. Gradually, everyone started to disappear into another room. I was the last one to go in there and when I opened up the door, they were all smoking marijuana! I was never into drugs. Ever. They never interested me in the least. I remember I was so scared and asked at the time my 'best' friend to leave with me but she wanted to stay cause we were with a lot of 'popular' people. She was one of those people who would dump you in a heart beat for the next coolest person. Yeah, I choose good friends. Ugh. Anyway, I didn't want to stay in that kind of environment so I borrowed a girls keys and drove to my neighbors. He followed me back so I could return the car. I knocked on the window to get their attention to give back the keys and the mom or dad can't remember now, opened the window and yelled at me. I told them I was just returning some keys so I gave it to them and ran to my neighbors car and took off. I was so worried that the parent would go downstairs and catch everyone doing drugs so I was panicking all night. I didn't want to get anyone in to trouble I was just trying to get out of there.
The next Monday at school, the group that was there that night cornered me and started screaming at me. Telling me they were going to kick my butt and calling me a whore and all sorts of hateful things. Even my 'best friend' was in with them. I was scared for my life cause I knew the girl who did the most screaming had a rep for getting into fights. If it was her and I, I could have taken her but her and about 10 others?? My chances weren't as good. I kept apologizing to them but they wouldn't listen. After that my life became hell at Davis High. They spread such horrible nasty rumors about me so soon I was a loner. No one wanted to be my friend. They only person I had was Brandon. I was so confused how everything got that way. I got called a bunch of nasty names because I chose not to do drugs. That is something I have never understood to this day. **Sigh** I started ditching school so I wouldn't have to be threatened on a daily basis or be called horrible names.
When grades came out I was failing every single class. No surprise there. My mom talked to me and told me I was going to have to go to an alternative school because if I stayed at Davis I wouldn't graduate. The school I went to was Canyon Heights. It use to be for the young teens that got pregnant but the year I started turned it into an alternative school. I loved it! People there were not nearly as judgemental nor were they all about what car you drove, what clothes you wear, etc. For the first time I actually liked school. I did extra credit to make up for my 2 years at Davis that I failed and turned my grades completely around. I ended up getting a 3.95 GPA! I even talked at the graduation! I am grateful for the opportunity I had to go there. I loved the people I met and the things I learned. It helped me get through those challenging high school situations. I see my niece going through a lot of the things I did and I don't envy her. I would never go back to high school. That is something I am glad to be done with.
Its funny though, with facebook and the blogging world I have come to find a lot of the people I knew in high school. It makes me wonder why I never hung out with them. Maybe my high school days wouldn't have been so awful. It was my bad choice in friends though. Life can be funny at times. Like I said, I am glad those days are done.

Little Me Time

I got to go to a movie last night with me, myself, and I! It was the first time i have been to a movie by myself and I loved it! There was just something really nice about being alone. I don't get much alone time so maybe that made it really nice. I went and saw When In Rome. I loved it! Thought it was a funny sweet movie! I suggest it! I am planning on seeing Letters To Juliet and Dear John by my onesies too! I think I could make movie night alone a habit!
