Nutrition Or Lack There Of

So I am 13 weeks pregnant and I am STILL sicker than a darn dog. These babies of ours just don't seem to like anything but crap even then they don't like it. Everything healthy that I try to get down (it is hard to eat healthy cause nothing sounds good) always end up in the toilet or on the side of the road. Blah. I am honestly thinking the babies don't want any outside nutrition and just want to suck it from me until there is nothing left of me! lol I have lost 6lbs this pregnancy this far and I am truly hoping I will stop losing and gain maybe a little back for the babies sake. I did learn last night and tonight that they do like steak and A1! I was able to eat that these two nights (and absolutely LOVE it!!) and keep it down! After being able to keep it down last night and enjoying the heck out of it I sent Brandon to the store to get more steaks! I have one for each night of the week!!! Hoo-raw! Just hope I don't run out of A1..... That would be all sorts of bad news.
My next doctor appointment is on the 19th and I can't even wait! The nurse said that if the babies cooperate we could find out what sex they are! How friggin fantastic would that be?! I can't wait to start kind of buying a few little items for them! And if we find out before Thanksgiving I can hopefully find some awesome deals on Black Friday!! Woot Woot! Excitement!
Here is a picture of my growing belly.
I was 12 weeks and 3 days.
This weekend Brandon went through out food storage and got rid of tons and tons of food. What a sad sight that was. It is almost painful to have to just throw away food. Such a waste. Now we are writing everything we have so we will know what we have, when it expires, and when we will need more. While Brandon was doing this I tried to work on the computer room. Finished the filing so we can get rid of our monstrous filing cabinet and hopefully this week we can move the computer downstairs and start working on Sawyer's new big boy room!! That is my goal anyway. I am still looking for him a new bed. I thought I wanted just another toddler bed but think I am going to get him a twin bed since he is almost too big for his toddler bed already but it would work out great to use at grandma's house. Found a headboard but not a bed frame.
On the potty front I feel almost defeated some days. Potty training is tough! I wasn't expecting him to be potty trained over night or anything but I was hoping after a few weeks of repetitive potty going he would start to get the hang of it. Not so much. I still take him to the potty every hour (and I am pretty darn good at doing it every hour not perfect but good) and yet his pull-ups are always wet. Every time. He even still goes #2 in them which is the worst!! I try to watch him so when he does the hiding and grunting I rush him to the toilet but I haven't been able to get him there in time a lot recently. He never tells me he needs to go. When does that kick in? When I first started potty training I just got him some regular big boy underpants but they don't catch anything so he was urinating on the floor.... a lot. So I went to pull-ups. Bad thing about these is I think they make him think he is just in a diaper so it doesn't matter if he goes potty in them. My friend Camie gave me a pair of padded training pants. They are just like regular underpants but have padding in the crotch area so it helps catch the urine so it doesn't get all over. I tried looking for some at the stores but noone seems to sell them so I ordered some online. I am hoping that that helps him to realize going potty in them is a no no. Keeping my fingers crossed!

The past two weeks have been quite interesting. Last week with Sawyer's doctor appointments and this week all of us have been sick. When one gets sick, everyone does! We are all starting to get over our nasty colds though which is great. Still a little congested but overall better.
I called Sawyer's GI specialists again on Wed. and told her we needed to try something different since the medication she put him on was not helping. She recommended an over the counter drug called Pepsid Complete. We have been giving him it for two nights and he has slept through the night without any reflux or vomiting! I woke up and had to go check on him to make sure he was still breathing! Its crazy how one full night of actual sleep makes you worry that your baby is not breathing. Along with giving him the Pepsid, we have stopped giving him any food past 7:30 pm. Not even a baba. Its been kind difficult cause he is very use to a baba at night and he doesn't eat much during the day so he seems to get very hungry at night. Its seemed to be helping him sleep though. Now if we can just get him to start eating more....
Saturday I am hostessing our Lee family party and am a nervous wreck! I never feel like my house is 'good enough' for my family. All my families houses are so well decorated and quite a bit larger than mine. Yes I know they are older and have had to work to get these nice things, it just makes me feel a little intimidated. So I have been buying a few things to help spruce up my little home. I know it really shouldn't matter. I just want people to like my house. Is that so wrong? I am glad we are getting together. Its what my dad always wanted, to keep us all close and I want to carry on his wishes. Even if I have to hostess every single family get together!
Onto a different subject: Brandon started one of those in house garden-starter kit things and already we have plants growing! He planted them only about a week and a half ago and they are taking off like crazy! We are thinking we are going to have to move some of the beans out into a bigger pot cause they are just cruizin! Makes me so excited for spring! I am also going to grow some of my own herbs I have decided! Gardening is kind of a pain to start but reaping what you have sown is so wonderful!
Just looked outside and its snowing. What the crap?! Where is the sun? I am ready for spring to come.

Friday Happenings

Friday was an interesting day to say the least! We went to my mother-in-law's dad's funeral and ended up leaving early. I am now thinking Sawyer does not like funerals. We were listening to the talks and Sawyer had been coughing a lot all morning. Well, he started coughing really bad, hard enough that he threw up.... in Brandon's hands! Picture it if you will, sitting in the front few rows, surrounded by people land having your child puke in your husbands hands. It was pretty horrible. I grabbed some baby wipes and tried to clean Brandon up when Sawyer started coughing heavily again. I grabbed him and started to run out the door but was not quick enough. He puked ALL OVER. All over him and all over me. I was so mortified. A guy told me I could go into the nursery cause there was a bathroom in it so I ran in there and tried to clean the two of us up. Of course I was stupid and didn't bring him any extra clothes even though I had thought about it. Should have listened to my instincts. I'm an idiot... moving on. I fortunately had brought some extra clothes for me cause we were going out later so I wanted to change. I was able to take off the pukey shirt and put on another one but the puke was still all over. On my skirt, on my leggings, bra, and garments. Ugh. Brandon just wanted me to change and we could keep Sawyer bundled up but there was no way I was staying there cover in puke with my baby in a pukey onesie. So I took Sawyer and we headed to my moms. I washed our clothes and took a shower while Sawyer slept. I felt so horrible. I wanted to be there for my mother-in-law but there was nothing I could do. Sigh. The rest of the day was ok after that. He even ate semi decent which was wonderful. We got a call from his doctor and she said from the x-rays everything looked normal. Whew! That was wonderful to hear. I told her that he was still coughing a lot and puked and she told me to watch him for the next week and call her with how he does. When he woke up today he had a fever and a runny nose. Great! lol Poor kid.
My mom won tickets on the radio to see Monster Jam at the ESA so we invited our friends Liz and Bryant to go with us. We went out to eat at the Olive Garden. We went to the one in West Valley, not even close to as good as the one in Layton. Everything seemed dry.... The Black Tie Mousse Cake was still wonderful as ever though!! That's all that really mattered! :) We started talking about the Monster Truck Jam and thought it would be funny if we dressed up kinda Hick-ish! We went to Walmart and got some Camo hats, shirts, and the boys got wife-beaters! hahaha. They wore the wife-beaters over their shirts. They looked ridiculous! It was perfect! The Monster Jam was pretty dang cool. I had never been to one but I loved it. After it was over we waited in line and had the drivers sign our shirts! Bryant wrote on his wife-beater I heart Grave Digger and drew the truck! It was hilarious! I drew an 8 pack of abs and pecks with green nipples on Brandon's shirt! It was awesome! All the drivers thought it was pretty hilarious too! The woman driver got to sign Brandon's breasts! lol How often do women get to sign men's breasts I mean really?! It was awesome! We had a lot of fun. It was a good Valentine's Activity!

So we were trying to look like hicks right, well one of the drivers was a definite hick! He was missing teeth and everything! We thought about blacking out our teeth to go with our ensambles but sure glad we didn't now! lol Might have gotten into a rumble! HA
So for Valentine's Day, Brandon gave me my present early! We decided to not do any gifts this year {except I get to give him one cause I got it in January} so we could go on a trip instead but he got me a little something anyway. Sweet hubby!

He knows I love me some Diet Coke and roses! Such a sweetie!

The Upper GI

Had the Upper GI today. Things went pretty well. As well as can be expected for a 17 month old anyway! We got him there and when they took us back to the x-ray room he freaked! Of course. We stripped him down to his diaper and he clung to me like he was just layer of my skin! He was uncooperative when it came to laying still to take the x-rays so they ended up having to strap him to a board so he couldn't move his arms or legs. That was pretty dang traumatic for him. He screamed and struggled the whole time. He wouldn't drink the barium from his baba either so they had to use a giant syringe. Thankfully he began to drink with the syringe. If he wouldn't have he would have had to have the tube in his nose. Ek! That would have been more than I could take I am thinkin. I stood up by his head the entire time and tried to keep him calm and talk to him. I didn't succeed in keeping him calm but I tried! They took a bunch of x-rays as he drank and the doctor said that his esophagus looked pretty good as well as his stomach. Whew. I just hope the GI doctor can tell us what we can do to help him and hopefully its something fairly simple. After all the testing was finished, the nurse started to unwrap his legs. He started kicking his legs as soon as the straps were off. He couldn't wait until his arms were free either. He was trying to scramble into my arms with one arm still tied into the strap. Once we got him all unscrambled, I just held him. Oh how I long to just take all his pain and fears away from him. We got him all dressed and got him a bottle. When we got him in the car his little eyes were so heavy. He was out in about 10 minutes! He needs the sleep. He had a really rough morning poor thing. The doctor should call tomorrow so I will update when we get word from her!

Worrying

Today was Sawyer's appointment with the Pediatric Gastroenterologist and it went.... ok. I had a really good feeling about the doctor. She seemed very thorough and all around likable. This appointment was mostly to start the ball rolling. She got his symptoms and family history and did a small exam. With some of Brandon's family history, the doctor had a few thoughts on what was going to need to be done. Tomorrow, he will be getting an upper GI done at Primary Children's Hospital. Thankfully it will be in the morning since he will not be able to eat 4 hours prior to the procedure. I called Primary Children's to see what the procedure would consist of and they said he will have to drink Barium {ew} then they will take x-rays of him and watch how everything works when he swallows. I am praying they can find an answer to these problems and answers not leading to surgery! That would be wonderful! I know for certain that he is going to throw many a fits. He is not a fan of doctors. Who would be if you were at the doctors office every 2 weeks or so. Sigh.

The doctor also gave us a new prescription to try. We are trying it tonight so hopefully there will be no vomiting. Ahh... a day without vomiting. Its been a while since we've had one of those days. My poor baby is starting to loath eating. Just about every time he eats he vomits it all back up. I think he is starting to associating food with pain. {wish I could do that! Maybe I wouldn't eat so much! lol kidding} It has been so frustrating and scary to go through this with him. We are constantly worrying about his weight gain, the effects the vomiting has on his esophagus, teeth, stomach, and his refusal to eat. I can't even imagine what it is like for him. Poor guy. The doctor said that the day after the upper GI she will call me with results! How wonderful is that?! The day after!! Lets how that's what happens and they can find something relatively non-abrasive to help him. Wish him luck!

Its been a while

since I posted so I decided to do some updating. I feel as though things have been very busy, but when I sit down and think about it.... it doesn't seem like we've done a whole lot. Sawyer has had some tummy issues, but I will spare the gruesome details. We aren't sure what exactly has caused him to have these particular issues. We haven't really changed anything in his diet other than we've been trying without much success to switch him over from formula to milk. I am wondering if he is lactose intolerant. Most of my family is. Poor kid. I hope that's not what it is but can't think of much else that it could be. He hasn't acted sick at all. Its weird. Other than that he is a busy busy boy! He is climbing on EVERYTHING. I left him for about 30 seconds and when I came back, he had climbed on a chair and was on top of our kitchen table! I nearly died. What if he would have fallen?! I hate to even think of that. He is so hilarious to watch. He is talking like a crazy person, mimics everything you say or do, loves teasing my dog Taya,is the most picky eater I have ever seen, knows some sign language, and is just a little ball of energy and fun! He keeps me running as long as he is awake! He is a hoot and a half!
Brandon took me on a date and we saw Avatar. I was not looking forward to seeing it at all but I actually really enjoyed it. The 3D glasses left me with a headache but other than that it was a good show.
I have been reading like a maniac lately too. I started reading the Sookie Stackhouse series and loved them. Then, Kelly gave me the House of Night books. I am on #2 and love it! I am almost done so I can start #3. She gave me a ton of other books to read to. I have got start reading faster or something cause I think I have 6 or 7 books to read in a month. Quite a bit for me.
I made a goal to start exercising at least 30 minutes 5X a week. I have been doing it for just over a week and a half which isn't long but is amazing I am still doing it! Its great to work with my grandma cause after breakfast, Sawyer goes down for a nap {usually} and my grandma takes about an hour shower. That is the time go downstairs and run/walk on my treadmill while I read my book. Its been perfect! I have noticed my moods have improved, I have a more energy {not a ton but more} and I have been sleeping better {when Sawyer isn't walking up}. December was a hard month for me. I was having a really hard time with my father passing away. I was eating all the time whether I was hungry or not, I had no motivation to do anything, especially exercise. I probably gained about 8 pounds. That may not sound like a ton to some people but for me that was awful. Devastating in fact. When I put on weight it affects a lot of things, especially my relationship with my husband. I feel fat, hideous, and undesirable. I decided I wasn't going to let myself keep going down that depressing road. I made myself a promise to exercise at least 30 minutes which really isn't that much. I am now going to start doing P90X Ab Ripper every Tuesday and Thursday and see if I can get 'beach ready'. Wish me luck!!
Here are some cute pics of Sawyer I wanted to post. He's getting so big!

Brandon started his last semester of school yesterday. Ye-haw! I am so proud of him! He got a 4.0 GPA last semester! Woot woot! He had a huge project due and got an A+ so I put it on the fridge! lol He was the only one who did that well on that project! I'm such a proud Wifey!
This semester is going to be one of the most trying 3 months of our lives I'm thinkin. He is going to be gone a ton for school then he will be at work until late trying to make up time. Its going to be hard to not see him often but he is doing it for Sawyer and I. In the long run it will be so worth it. I am just going to have to keep reminding myself that it is only for 3 months. We can do it for 3 months.....! My friend Tia and I decided that since both of our men are going to be working and going to school we are just going to have to keep each other occupied! Least I won't be completely alone all the time! Its going to be tough but I'm proud of Brandon for going to school. He's an awesome husband and dadda!

On to some sad news, my poor baby is sick.... again. He's got a temperature, coughing, sneezing, and runny nose. We think he might have got it from one of his little friends but who knows how kids really get things right? His friend had croop so I am praying he doesn't get it. I made him some homemade chicken noodle soup {I swear this stuff is the best when you are sick} and have been trying to give him some juice to get some Vitamin C in him. Hopefully he starts to feel better the poor baby.
His birthday is in 15 more days and I can't wait! I am so excited! I've got most of the decorations and food organized so now I just need to get him his bday present(s). Its hard to just buy ONE gift! I want to get him everything! lol I'm so excited tho! Can't wait.
