Edible Finger Paints!

Who doesn't love edible finger paints?! I watched my friend Michelle's little girl Tabitha today so she could get some sleep and we had a great time! Sawyer and her played for a while with toys but then I put out some paper on my table so they could color. They got sick of that pretty quick so I busted out the pudding

Sawyer had flung the pudding that was on his fingers so I had pudding all over my floor, chair, and wall!! What do you expect when you give a 2 year old chocolate pudding to play in though right?! They had fun and it was so fun to watch them!

After I got the mess of pudding cleaned up, I let them play with play dough! Can't go wrong with play dough!!

We had a fun afternoon!

Delicious Soup

I made an absolutely delicious soup last night! I got it from The Girl Who Ate Everything Blog. It was to die for!! Here is the recipe
Creamy Ham and Potato Soup
3 1/2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
1/3 cup diced celery
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup carrot, diced (optional but I put them in)
1 cup diced cooked ham (buy a ham steak in the deli section)
3 1/4 chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon ground white or black pepper, (I used white pepper. Gives it a little kick)

5 tablespoons butter
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk

Directions:
1.Combine the potatoes, celery, onion, carrot, ham and chicken broth in a stockpot. Bring to a boil, then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the salt and pepper.

2.In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour with a fork, and cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk so that lumps don't form and until all of the milk has been added. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick, 4 to 5 minutes.

3.Stir the milk mixture into the stockpot, and cook soup until heated through.

4. Top with cheddar cheese, chives, and bacon if desired. Serve immediately.

5. Makes 6 servings

Delicious New Recipe

I just tried a fantastic new recipe! Its got a different flavor than the 'normal' stuff I cook but it was great! Tasty, easy, and cheap! That's my kind of recipe! Here it is:

Honey Mustard Kielbasa & Potatoes

Ingredients:

3/4 cup dry white wine (I didn't have this so I just used liquid white wine)

1/4 cup Honey Mustard

2 Tbsp. brown sugar

1 lb. Kielbasa, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 1/4 lb. red potatoes ( about 4) cut into 3/4 inch pieces

1 large onion, sliced

Make It:

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix first 3 ingredients until well blended. Combine remaining ingredients in shallow pan. Drizzle with wine mixture; toss to coat. Bake 55 minutes or until potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.

** Substitue chicken brother or beer for the wine.**

Pizza Bites!

I found a great blog to follow with awesome ideas for food its called Annies Eats! I found a recipe for Pizza Bites on it and had to try them. They were so fun to make and very tasty! They made me feel so domestic because I made the dough from scratch! Its been ages since I have done that.

They turned out great! I loved making them! While I was busy making them tho Sawyer decided he needed to check out the flour from the dough...

Yes, I let him play in it! He was curious and its always good to get a little dirty sometimes!!
These are what we got out of our garden the other day too....

Brandon's 27th Birthday

Brandon's birthday was on Thursday and I was so paniced the entire day! I was running around trying to get everything ready for the gathering we were having. We had a great turn out. Lots of great friends and family! We ate pulled chicken sandwiches, cowboy caviar with chips, potato salad, noodle salad, and chicken salad! So dang good! After eating and cake and ice cream we played the Animal game which is the most hilarious game ever! Brandon's family was great to watch! All of them got looks of absolute horror on their face when it was their turn! So dang fun! It really turned out great!

I think everything turned out pretty great! Happy birthday to my 27 year old hubby!!

Weekend Specials

Had a pretty dang good weekend. Friday, hung out with Heather, an old friend from High school. We grabbed salads and headed back to her house for some hot tubing, lots of reminiscing, and a movie. It was so fun to hang out and just kinda chill and have a fun time.
Saturday, we started working on the yard and the deck. Still have a few more things to do but its coming along. We also went to our nephew's 10th birthday! Lots of fun and good food!
Sunday, we had a bbq with a bunch of our friends. We played games, ate yummy food, and shared some laughs! Its always great to get together with friends!

Oh how I love great weather, friends, food, and fun!
