PH Probe

Sawyer got a PH Probe done yesterday. I had to take him to Primary Children's and had a noodle lookin tube placed in his nose and down his throat to the top of his stomach. The poor baby screamed his stinkin guts out as the nurse was putting it in. I had to hold him down which was torture. He kept looking at me like 'why are you doing this to me?' Broke my heart. The nurse couldn't get the tape to stay in place so she kept trying and it kept pulling the tube in and out. Ugh. Then he had to be taken to x-ray to make sure the tube was in the right place. He screamed bloody murder when they took him from me and they basically ripped my shirt out of his hand he was holding on so tight. For the first little while we had to use "No No's" which were little braces they put on his arms to keep him from bending at the elbow and pulling on the tube. He hated those. After a little while he was ok. He even took a little power nap so I could sneak away and eat. Look how precious and kinda sad he was....He was only allowed to drink filtered apple juice every 4 hours. I had to be extra careful so he would not see me drinking or eating or he got very upset and wanted some. That was so hard to watch him only be able to drink.

The night was hell. Scuse my language but it was. He did better than I expected but i didn't sleep much. I shared the hospital bed with him so I was constantly worrying about his monitor and making sure he didn't rub his tube or yank on it. They had to feed him at 2:30 am. Nightmare. It took me probably 10 minutes to get him to wake up so he could drink. He finally did and zonked again. Unfortunately, I was still awake. People were so noisy outside our door. I wanted to yell out to them to go to sleep or get away from our door. I kinda dozed off here and there but never was completely asleep. 6:30am rolled around so it was time to wake up Sawyer and give him more juice. Brandon had spent the night with us on the couch and it was time for him to leave. He got ready and when he left Sawyer cried and cried. He wanted to go with his dadda. I was worried that he wasn't going to go back to sleep but he ended up sleeping for a few more hours.

Around 10am they brought a complimentary breakfast of juice, donut, and bagel to me and I had to hide everything. I felt so bad. Sawyer saw them and wanted to eat them. I was able to sneak away and grab a bite to eat a little later but kept the donut for when he could eat it! Sawyer's last feeding was suppose to be at 2:30 but the nurse never came. I went to the front desk to ask them to come feed him but my nurse was no where in sight. After waiting a half hour and trying to calm my starving child I took initiative and got him some juice. You don't make an 18 month old kid wait to be fed. Especially, when they are tired, ornery, annoyed with the tube in their nose and they haven't had anything solid in a day. I buzzed the nurse in and asked them when we were going to be released. She said she would find our nurse and have him come talk to us. Another half hour later he finally came in. He had me sign our release form and had Sawyer lay on the bed. All he said was "This is going to hurt buddy" and RIP! He just tore off the tape that was on his face and yanked the tube right out of him! I couldn't believe it! He was not gentle whatsoever. The tape even made Sawyer bleed. By that time I was ready to punch this guy in the nose. He could have at least tried to remove the tape with at least SOME gentleness. Ugh. When Sawyer got it out I cuddled him then gave him a roll to eat! He was thrilled! He was eating it like he hadn't eaten in years! I got all our junk together and we walked to the car. When I put him in the car he was so excited to be leaving! We drove a little way away from the hospital and I looked in my mirror and he was zonked.... with the roll still in his mouth! Poor thing! It was adorable though! Thankfully, they had lots of toys to keep him busy.

When we got home he was so glad to be home! I also gave him that chocolate donut I saved for him too! I think he deserved it after what he went through. That sugar gave him a little bit of a buzz I am thinking. The rest of the night he was hyper! It was great! Hopefully we will hear from the doctor Wednesday. So glad that little test is done. Now we get to go to Goblin Valley and have a little fun...... if the weather cooperates that is.

Festival Of Colors

We went down to Spanish Fork this afternoon to the Hindu temple for the Festival of Colors! It was absolutely amazing! We were covered in brightly colored chalk by the end! The festival is basically a welcoming to spring and saying goodbye to winter! It was marvelous! I will be doing this just about every year from now on I am thinkin! Such a blast!

Weekend and More Tests

This weekend was great! I got to go out and do whatever I wanted to do! Brandon had Sawyer Friday night and ALL day Saturday! It was very interesting to not have a baby to worry about. I did enjoy it though. Went out shopping, ate at the Olive Garden, and saw Bounty hunter with my girl Ashlee. We had a blast! I didn't get home until late and then Sawyer was up at 3 until about 4:30 which was horrible but I still woke up around 8 the next morning. Brandon even made breakfast! After breakfast, I met Tia at Clearfield High and we ran for 2 hours, went back to my house to do P90X Stretch {AWESOME} then went and did a little shopping! Later that afternoon I went with my friend Camie to a Slumber Party. It wasn't as fun as they normally are. I think the girl was just a newbie so she wasn't as good as some I have been to. After that, Camie and I headed to Pizza Factory for some Delicious pizza, salad, and bread sticks and just talked for a while. I got home late that night too. I had a wonderful time though! I did miss my baby and hubby. Sunday, we went to Bryant and Liz's house for a BBQ and bonfire! So much fun! Got to see Jeff, Vida, and Aiden which was nice since I never get to see them as often as I'd like. We ate and talked, roasted marshmallows, and just hung out. It was a great weekend!
Monday was kinda torturous. We had to take Sawyer into a feeding specialist. The specialist asked us a bunch of questions and had Sawyer eat so she could 'evaluate' his eating. He did his horrible cough/choking thing that he does and she knew it was his reflux acting up. She said that his eating looks fine that its just his reflux is so bad that its causing him to associate food with pain so he's not eating well. She said that she would call the GI specialist again and give her report and have them run more tests on him. I got a call back within a few hours from the Doctor and they are going to do a probe test of some kind. He will have to have a tube in his nose and down his throat to monitor his reflux. He will have to be there over night. **Sigh** Its going to be a rough night I am thinking. I will be staying with him. I know without a doubt he will try to take the tube out. That being said I think they will have to tie him down so he won't. I will probably be turning into MOMMA BEAR too. I am dreading it. Poor little stinker. I hope they can find out something we can do about it and hopefully its not surgery. We go in Monday so please keep him in your prayers!!

Just Thinking

Do you ever look at your house and think "Holy crap! How did it get like this? Looks like a tornado hit!" I looked at my house and that was exactly what I thought. Yes, I am mostly a stay-at-home-mom so I SHOULD keep my house in better shape but I haven't been keeping up lately. Call it being lazy, or too busy, or a combo. My house will never be perfectly clean 24/7. I have a son who is so much fun and sooo busy and when you have kids like that.... its hard to keep the house spotless and honestly, I'd rather be spending time with him than worrying all the time how my house looks. He is only going to be this age for a short time and even though I am with him ever single day, I feel like I am going to miss something he does. I do want to try a little harder to keep my house cleaner but not make it my #1 priority. My son and my husband and my #1's.
I am loving this weather by the way! Today was gorgeous! I went to the park with my neighbor and her daughter that is 3 days older than Sawyer and it was so much fun! Playing on the big toy, running, and laughing at how cute they are! This weather makes me want to be outside all the time! Its hard to be inside while I am at my grandmas but we are going to remedy that here soon by putting up the trampoline in the back yard so Sawyer and I can get out in the fresh air! Oh spring how I've missed you!!

Movies

So we watched a few movies this week. First, we rented The Hurt Locker. In my opinion every adult American NEEDS to see this movie. I say adult because it does have strong language. Heck, if I were doing what they were doing I'd be saying some pretty nasty words too. It will give you a new respect for what our troops do. I was sitting on the edge of my seat most of the movie. I say most because I didn't like the ending. The rest of the movie is really good though. Won a bunch of Academy Awards too.

Second movie we saw was Old Dogs. We saw this in theaters and loved it. It was just as good the second time around! I was laughing so hard I almost wet myself! Hilarious and a good family movie.

Third, we saw Alice In Wonderland. I LOVED IT! Yes, it was strange but that's what you get when you go see a Tim Burton film. I think he did an excellent job. We saw it in 3D and it was pretty dang cool. I would suggest that to people who enjoy his films or have an imagination.

Fun Pinwheel Project

I was watchin Studio 5 this morning and saw a gal use a pinwheel as a cute decoration see Heartland Paper so I decided I wanted to do that too! It was pretty simple and turned out so cute!

I only had time to make one but think I will make a few more.

18 Month Stats

Sawyer had his 18 month appointment today and here are his stats:
Head: 19 in. 60th percentile
Weight: 22.4 lbs 15th percentile
Height: 33.3 in. 80th percentile
He is a skinny little guy but a tall one! Doctor said he looks great and is growing wonderfully! So glad to hear. When we got there he screamed like always and blew the nurse and doctor kisses and said "Bye bye"! And when we went to weigh him he clung to me so tight with his little legs and arms it was so sweet. I was sad he was so scared but loved him holding on to me so tight! He is such a cute little stinker! Love him!
Here are some pics of him enjoying his favorite snack! What a messy boy!

New Website obsession/Ducks

Thanks to my friend Liz, I have a new website obsession! She told me about foodgawker.com and I love it! Last night I made a yummy chili with cornbread recipe that I found on there! I have never made cornbread but think I am going to start making it more often! It was so easy and so dang good! The chili turned out great too! If you love to cook and find new recipes Foodgawker.com is a good site to check out!
After dinner, Brandon and I took Sawyer to Layton park to go feed the ducks bread! It was hilarious! As soon as he saw those ducks he started laughing so hard! We had to make sure to keep a good hold on him cause he was ready to go running into the water to chase after them! Brandon had Sawyer and was feeding some geese when all the sudden a huge herd of them came swarming them! It kind freaked Brandon out cause those geese were not afraid to walk right up to us. He stood up with Sawyer once they all came and swarmed them. It was fun and I think Sawyer enjoyed the duckies. I'll post the video of him going nuts over them when I get a chance. Its so hilarious!

Thinking About Dad

I think I know why I have been a little on the depressed side lately. I have had 2 dreams about my dad and he has been on my mind a lot. My dreams were really strange.

1st Dream: We went through my dad's death all over again. Miserable. Then we were in my mom's back yard having a BBQ when all the sudden the clouds turned kinda dark. We all looked up to see what was going on when all the sudden bubbles started to come down from the sky and surround us and eventually encircling us. We knew that they were from my dad..... What does that mean?!

2nd Dream: My mom and her husband got divorced {sorry mom I didn't mean to dream this} and my parents got back together. Weird thing was we were all young again. I was probably about 7 or 8 again but still had all my memories from now. Can anyone tell me what these things mean?
I was sitting at my computer listening to music when a song started to play that made me think of my dad. "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allen. Its the song that my dad and I danced to at my wedding. I began to sob. I have had this terrible ache inside me but haven't found a way to release it until I cried. It felt good to cry. Is that strange? I was at the table eating lunch with my grandma and Sawyer on my lap and I was just staring at Sawyer. I thought how much Sawyer has changed since December. My dad would have been amazed at his progress and change. He was always so glad to watch his grandchildren grow and learn. Tears began to stream down my cheeks again {like they are now} and Sawyer just looked up at me, smiled, and gave me a hug! He knew his mama needed it. He is very intuitive. He is such a strength to me. Even at such a young age.
Today, has been a struggle. Missing my dad so much it almost hurts. Although, I am not a fan of crying it helps my heart to heal. I know I will see him again. Its just the waiting part that is hard.

Feeling a Little Blue

I am not really sure why either. Brandon went up to the cabin with his dad and nephews and I thought that was going to be a good idea. I am finding I was wrong. I know he needed to go this weekend cause he's been stressed but i miss him. I hung out with Kelly and my mom last night and it was fun but I just couldn't get over the blah feeling in me. Today has been worse. I didn't sleep well last night and Sawyer would not take a nap at all. So I didn't get to either. I finally got him down around 3:30 only to have him wake up about 20 minutes later and puke. Ugh. That was the stick that broke this camels back. I want to scream or cry but that wouldn't be the best for Sawyer so instead I am eating my feelings away. I am in one of those self loathing moods as well. I am eating which means putting on pounds which just makes me want to scream/cry harder. I just don't know what else to do right now. I don't feel like being around anyone or doing anything. I hate these moods. This one has lasted a little too long for my liking though. Hopefully next week will be better. Sigh. Thanks for listening to my complaining.

I am a little slow...

I have been wanting to post about last weekend for a few days but have been so busy I haven't been able to. I am going to do my best! These first pics are just random cute ones I love!

Last Friday night, we went with our friends Bryant and Liz to IRock {yes again! I love that place} and did some rock climbing. It was way fun. Here's some fun pics we took:

I swear we had more fun taking pictures than climbing! lol

Saturday, was quite interesting. Least the morning was. Brandon got up and changed Sawyer. We let him play around for a while until he got kinda tired. Brandon up him back in his bed to take a nap but wasn't sleepy cause we could hear him banging on his wall and saying "Mommy, Daddy, Nama, Gampa". So cute! Anyway, I went in to check on him and I could tell from the smell he had gone potty. I put him on the changing table and unzipped his jammies to find his onesie unbuttoned and NO DIAPER!! I called to Brandon that he forgot the diaper. He came running in and told me he had put one on. I felt down the leg of his jammies and there it was! Apparently, the flaps on the diaper weren't sticking well but he ignored it. He had poopy and pee all over in his jammies. I told Brandon he got to change him and I would get the bath ready! It was pretty funny.

I also went and got my toe nails done and love them! I love the Glitter Toes! My friend Camie did them and she did an awesome job!

Later Saturday night, we went down to our cousin Jordan's wedding! What a gorgeous wedding it was and man did she look amazing! The reception hall was beautiful! They had a bunch of yummy desserts and we helped ourselves! I had 4 eclairs!! Kill me! Yes, I am going to work out EXTRA hard all week! Sawyer ate a lot of the desserts too and I have to say I will never feed him that much sugar ever again!! He was sooooo hyper! It was hysterical! He was just a little nut running around everywhere. He had fun though! He crashed pretty hard that night. Lil stink!

Sunday, we headed to Provo to watch our nephew be ordained a teacher. I can't believe he is already 16. Man times flies. We let Sawyer go to church with my mom and she said he did really good. Thank goodness! After the ordination we went to Golden Corral. See another reason I need to work out extra hard this week! I made sure I at least ate a big salad with everything healthy on it. Least I got in something decent! Also, I was able to love on my little nephew Braxton who just turned one on Saturday! I don't get to see him very much so I took the opportunity to love on him the whole time we were with him! He is such a cutie!

Later that night, I made that delicious meal I posted about earlier then we watched Atlantis with Sawyer. He actually watched it for a while. Then he got kinda bored and started to play around. He's so funny cause now when I put him to bed I have a little flashlight that I shine on the animals on his wall to have him tell me what they are then I tickle him to sleep. He is sooo dang smart! He knows so many animals, he can count to 2 {I know its not high but still}, knows what a bunch of fruit are, air plane, car, animals, bath, potty, and a bunch of other things. It blows me away how smart he is. Everything I say he mimics! He's like a little parrot! And I swear he can figure out how to open anything {especially things he shouldn't be opening}. It just amazes me how much children learn at such a young age. He is about a week away from being 18 months old. I can't believe it. I am excited to see how much he's grown too!

An update on his reflux: He's doing better. Vomiting has definitely gotten better as has his eating! Woohoo! Its not completely gone which I didn't expect but its getting better! Woot!
