The Weekend

It was a great weekend. Too bad its already over. They go by too quickly. I have to start with this precious story of my husband. Thursday after work we went to pick up Sawyer at my mom's and ended up staying there until 9:30. Brandon had some homework he needed to get done and it took longer than we'd both planned. Sawyer was an hour late for his bedtime so he was a bit ornery. Right when we got home, I took him to his room and laid him down for the night. I knew he was going to cry but I was just going to let him cry it out. I have been trying to get him to put himself to sleep instead of depending on someone rocking him or me feeding him. He usually cries for 10-15 minutes then goes right to sleep. Well Brandon went into the baby's room, picked him up and started rocking him to sleep. I was already kind of annoyed cause I was tired and miffed that we got home late and then he goes and rocks him to sleep. *sigh* I told him to leave him alone and just let him cry himself to sleep. Brandon didn't listen to me or even acknowledge that I had even said anything to him which kind of torked me even more. He was in there for about 15 minutes and the whole time he was in there I was preparing to lay in to him as soon as he got back into our room for not listening to me. When he came in he laid on the bed and just said "I haven't seen him all day. I just wanted to spend some time with him." Oooooooohhhhhh!! That shut me right up. Man I felt horrible about getting so angry over something so small. I am grateful that he took that time to rock Sawyer to sleep. That was one of those moments where I just thought "I am so glad I married this man!" What a good husband and daddy!
Brandon's had kind of a hard weekend. Friday, he headed up to school and met with a few people from his class to work on a project. We both thought he would be done around 8 or 9. 9 o'clock rolled around and I was beat so I texted him I was going to sleep and he said he'd be home soon. I woke up at 1am to find I was the only one in my bed. I went out to see if his car was in the driveway which it wasn't. Worried me so I called and he was still with his group trying to get their project done. Poor thing. Again he said he'd be home soon. He didn't get home until 2:30am! And they STILL weren't finished with their project! Its been pretty frustrating for him. He's got to go tonight again to see if they can finish it up. Hopefully they can.
I was nuts on Sunday. I woke up at 6am to feed Sawyer and felt very rested and full of energy. Surprising since I went to bed about 12:30 the night before. I felt so great I decided to go running! Anyone who knows me knows I do not love running. For some reason it sounded great. I took Taya and we ran for 45 minutes straight! My first time running in probably 2 years and I ran for 45 minutes! Someone must have slipped me some sort of energy pill or something! lol I felt so great! To feel my muscles contracting and working so hard and my heart pumping like that was just refreshing! I had to drag my poor dog the last 10 minutes or so but she made it. She was limp the rest of the day tho! After I ran I still felt great so I did some laundry, cleaning, and ran to the store all before Brandon or Sawyer were up! It was nuts! I loved it! I'm kinda paying for it today. Bit sore but man was it worth it. Think I'll take Sawyer and go again tonight. Why can't I have this much energy all the time?
Well our little man learned a new 'trick' this weekend. Usually when he's tired and ready for a nap, I just take him into his crib and let him kinda fuss until he falls asleep. Well, Friday afternoon he just would not give in and go to sleep. I tried rocking him, singing to him, bouncing him and nothing worked. I knew he was SO tired so I laid him down, shut the door, and let him cry it out. After about 15 minutes of him screaming bloody murder, I peeked my head in to make sure he was ok and instead of sleeping this is what he was doing....Standing up in his crib screaming!! lol If he wasn't so cute I'd spank his bottom! lol We ended up lowering his crib all the way just so he wouldn't fall out and we took down his mobile. It was kinda sad. Means he's getting big. :0( Not ready for him to get bigger yet. *sigh* I know, I know. There's no stopping him. Boo. He's just so dang cute. I love him! Here's some pics of him from the weekend.

Aw, Steve has been coming home on his lunch breaks even though he only has about 10 minutes once he gets here, just so he can spend some time with the kids while they're awake. It's sad!

I've done the same thing with Dan going in to see the girls after he gets home and they're asleep! You get so mad and then realize how incredibly sweet it is! I hope all goes well teaching him to put himself to sleep! It can be challenging sometimes- depending on the baby :) I love reading your blog! You're so good at updating it and you're always sharing interesting bits of info you find!! Thanks!! I need to do better with mine!!
