I have been thinking about starting to potty train Sawyer. Thinking being the key word! Brandon found an adorable Elmo potty on Amazon so we bought it! He LOVES it!
Elmo even talks! It says stuff like:
** Its potty time with Elmo!**
** Congratulations**
** Elmo's so proud of you!**
Its just so dang cute! I am trying to get him use to just sitting on it before we start the potty training process. If anyone has some potty training advice I would love to hear!
Yesterday, I made a little fort/tent out of blankets and our kitchen chairs and he loves it! I got in there with him then when daddy got home he wanted daddy in there too. Once all three of us were in there he decided he needed Taya dog in there too! It was hilarious! He's been playing in it today too!
He is just so stinking fun! Love this little baby boy!

Potty training wasn't too hard for us. What I did was just let them run around naked for a few days and after that put them in undies. You have to do it when you're gonna be at home for a couple days in a row. When they're naked they realize they are going and will go on the potty if they're ready. They have to be ready and be interested in going potty already though. If you try to push them too early they will just resist the potty. It's good you got it and are letting him just sit and not making him use it yet. My experience with pull-ups is that they don't work!! They just feel like they are wearing their diaper so they just pee in them. You will have to expect a few accidents with him being naked and with the undies till he figures out that there is nothing there to catch it!! It also helped to let my kids go with and pick out their new panties. I told them that if they peed on Dora she would be sad. That helped too! They didn't want Dora to get peed on or pooped on and be sad. Another thing that helped me remember to take them potty was a potty watch. It is a little watch that's shaped like a potty and you can set it at different time intervals. It will play a little song when it's time to go. I ended up wearing it though and not the kids!! :) That only worked with Emma. Abbi is way more independent and didn't want to go unless SHE was ready. Being naked still worked with her though. The watches you can buy for $10 and www.pottytimeinc.com. Emma was 2 and Abbi was 2 1/2 when they potty trained. Abbi is still working on going through the night without a diaper but she woke up the other morning dry!! Yay! All my experience is with girls so I hope some of it helps at least!!... oh, and they usually go through a phase around that time where they are ALWAYS taking all their clothes off and it's hard to keep them dressed anyway so the naked thing is kind of convenient. That's all I can think of for now(a whole novel later) :)
I'm trying to help potty train Hailey.. @ work. She's two and it has not been fun. So good freaking luck! i'm so positive.
Not a good idea for a boy. Boys usually take much longer (some even as late as 3 or 4 years old). Don't rush him, he'll be ready eventually and you don't want to make him hate the potty by forcing him. Let alone all the accidents which cause problems with the kid's psyche when they pee or poo in their regular clothes. Take your time, it will be a nightmare if you rush it! Some girls can start by now but boys it's extremely rare. What's the rush?? I would think you wouldn't want your boy to grow up so fast anyway =)
